When looking for the right electric scooter for kids, it is important to consider all of the factors that could impact their satisfaction levels, ride quality, and safety. There are a variety of models to choose from when you are looking to purchase affordable scooters for your kids. Below, we will be going over an in-depth review of the Razor Power Core E90.
Razor Power Core E90 Review:
Razor is considered the number one manufacturer of electric scooters. Therefore, you typically can’t go wrong when you make the decision to purchase an electric scooter bearing the Razor brand. However, they do have a variety of different models to choose from. Therefore, you are likely going to want to consider the difference between them.

Motor and Speed
When it comes to the Razor Electric Scooter E90, it comes with a standard 12v/100w kick-start motor that is powered by a single 12v battery. Therefore, you are going to be getting a much lower powered battery than the higher models, but the top speedĀ is an impressive 9 miles per hour. Whereas, if you were to spend extra for some of the higher end models, you might get anywhere from 10 to 15 miles per hour as a top speed.
Therefore, there isn’t much difference in top speeds when it comes to the higher up models. However, it does have lower torque power due to the motor having less powering it. Therefore, you might notice that it can struggle to get up hills whereas some of the models with more torque might have less (or no) trouble doing so.
Throttle
There is going to be a significant difference in throttle when it comes to the lower end E90 compared to the higher end models. The E90 works by using a push button that is mounted on the right-hand grip. Whereas, the higher end models utilize a much more traditional motorcycle style twist throttle on the hand grip. This can provide a much different user experience because you are going to have more control over variable speeds.
However, the model right above the E90 which is the E100 Razor Scooter has zero variable speed control, so it is largely a cosmetic issue if you are choosing between the two budget models. The way to achieve variation in speed with the lower end models would be through the use of the brake and throttling the engine off. This takes practice to be able to achieve the right speeds, but it is easy to learn and apply in real life once you get some practice.
Braking
The breaking is an area that is not much different now that this model has gone through various upgrades. Now, you will find it comes with a full featured hand break which is a huge improvement to what it used to come with which was a foot brake. As a result, you will be able to use it much like the other more expensive models and a traditional bike.
Run Time
The runtime is advertised at 80 minutes . This is going to be less than some of the higher end models, but not by much. Therefore, your kids should be able to get more than enough runtime out of this scooter to make it a very good option for those that are looking to use it around the neighborhood. It has the ability to run for a total of 5 miles. In order to fully charge the battery, it will need to be plugged in for a total of 8 hours.
Weight
The weight sits at 21.75 pounds which are significantly lighter than even the next model up which is 29 pounds. Therefore, you are going to have a much more portable scooter when you opt for the lower model which is going to be a good thing for those that might need a lighter scooter to carry around and for smaller kids. Along with this, the handlebars are actually shorter than the upper models.
Because of this, your kids might outgrow the handlebar. Therefore, if you are seeking a scooter that they are going to be able to grow with, you might want to opt for handlebars that are not only height adjustable, but also taller.
Pros:
1. Lightweight.
While this might not be a huge plus for most since these scooters aren’t necessarily made to be carried around, it might be a difference maker for those that are looking for a more portable option.
2. Cost.
You are going to get an entry-level scooter with a good value proposition when you invest in the E90.
3. Significant Ride Time.
This model comes with a whopping 80 minutes of ride time. This is huge for anyone that is looking for an entry-level scooter that is going to be able to perform for any significant amount of time.
Cons:
1. Torque.
Unfortunately, this particular scooter does not come with a lot of torque power. As a result, it might be sluggish when it comes to getting up hills.
2. Limited Height.
Because the handlebar is much shorter than some of the higher end models and upper tier models, you will want to make sure that your kids are not going to outgrow it prior to even getting to use it. It might be better to upgrade to a model with a taller adjustable bar in order to guarantee that they do not outgrow it too soon.
Overall, the value proposition of this particular model has gone up since its first introduction. Because it now comes with a hand brake and because it features new power core technology which allows for increased run time by up to 2 times, you are going to get a scooter that can last up to 80 minutes and one that is going to be a good entry-level option for anyone that is just getting into battery-powered electric scooters.
